About ProBushcraft
Prometheus Earth Skills is an outdoor education company opened in 2012. It has been designed to teach all walks of life, and of any age or ability, the ancient art of being human in a fun and informative context.
All ages are taught, from schools to retirement homes and everyone in between. Ability and fitness are not an issue as courses are tailor made to suit the intended clientele attending each one.
We strive on making the courses enjoyable, informative, and relevant in modern society, as well as having achievable goals for the ability of the student. We aim to deliver courses at the highest possible standard and are on hand both whilst you are staying with us as well as off the course in case any questions may arise.
Our ethos is to just get people outside; if nothing else, and enjoy it! The courses are a mixture of informative and fun. The countryside does wonders for the human body and soul. Being out in nature can be a wonderful cure for the mind in times of trouble, a great way to exercise, and broadens our views on how important the fabric of the natural world is and how we must safeguard it for the future generations.
About the owner and founder.
Joe Peartree has been studying and practising primitive living, bushcraft and survival techniques for over a decade. After achieving qualifications in Countryside Management and Woodland Survival Skills he decided to open a school to teach others these valuable skills.
Joe started out working as a chef and for 16 years this was his life. After getting as far as possible as a head chef he switched careers, turning his hobby into a full time job whilst using the skills he had learned in catering trade to be able to teach all walks of life. His deep knowledge of food has enabled him to integrate catering into bushcraft and has created somewhat of a niche, providing great courses that use wild ingredients as well as small and large game preparation and cookery using back country techniques. He strives for perfection and loves his job.

A note from the owner
My name is Joe Peartree and I set up Prometheus Earth Skills in 2012 in an attempt to awaken the deep knowledge of our ancestors so we can learn about how we got to where we are, to steer people away from relying on the government in times of need, as well as a way to re-connect to nature and have a feeling of ownership of the countryside, as opposed to just being aware it’s there out the corner of the eye. I am not a spiritualist. I am not a hard core survivalist. I am a practical man with great enthusiasm for all things natural and believe that understanding where we have come from has a great relevance to all our futures.
I feel that every man, woman and child should be able to live without the need for outside intervention to survive. Be that being paid to earn money to buy goods, buying from the companies selling goods for us to spend our earned money on, suppliers providing us with water and electricity to live, or governments overseeing and babysitting our lives in general. Independence has been lost. Being so reliant on so many people you don’t know or trust can be daunting, and it is empowering to regain true, vitally important and, in the end, ultimate independence again. To know that no matter what happens, you will survive regardless. These skills can also be applied practically on a day to day basis, are fun to practice, and greatly helps develop motor skills and problem solving abilities.
